Brienz Rothorn

Full steam ahead to 2350 metres above sea level.

Special offers: Evening trips, steamed sausage rides, railway and breakfast. There are many Rothörner mountains. But only one near Brienz, on the beautiful Brienzersee in the Bernese Oberland.

And only here can you complete the ascent in such a romantic and impressive way. With the Brienz Rothorn Railway, the oldest steam cog railway in Switzerland. It has been pounding, hissing and puffing its way up to Rothorn Kulm since 1892. Conquer 1678 metres of altitude difference without huffing and puffing.

The ride is rewarded with a marvellous panoramic view and the hospitality of the Hotel Rothorn Kulm. And unique hiking routes beckon. The Brienz Rothorn Railway takes you back again as reliably as you travelled up. A great attraction for families, groups and schools of all ages.
