Medical services

In the Haslital

The Swiss healthcare system is based on several levels and charges fees. It is important that you contact the right place, otherwise you may incur high costs.

Here are your contacts, depending on your problem:

Pharmacy

Do you have a minor injury or impairment, e.g. an insect bite, a sore throat or a cold? Do you need a medicine?

Contact the nearest pharmacy. The specialist staff will provide you with expert advice and, if necessary, dispense medication. An emergency service is also provided for Sundays and public holidays. Please note that additional costs may apply outside of the official opening hours (emergency fee).

Hospital

Are you in an acute emergency situation? The emergency admissions units at the regional hospitals provide round-the-clock, optimal interdisciplinary emergency care:

Tip: In a hospital emergency, the urgency of the case determines the treatment, not the time of arrival. This means that long waiting times may occur. Therefore, we recommend that you first consult the above-mentioned offices for less serious concerns.

Emergency number

Are you in a life-threatening situation, e.g. severe chest pain or severe shortness of breath?

Call the emergency number 144.

For the Swiss air rescue service Rega, call 1414.

The medical emergency call centre will ensure that the right resources are sent to you. During the emergency call, you will be supported by professionals who will provide you with safety tips or first-aid instructions.

Important: Please take your insurance certificate, vaccination card (if available) and identification document with you to every consultation. Most services and remedies can be paid for by credit card.
