Alpbach Gorge

An extraordinary water experience.

The Alpbach Gorge is not for the faint-hearted! A breathtaking climb up the rock faces above the rushing stream between Meiringen and Hasliberg has a lot to offer. With via ferrata-like passages without handrails, a head for heights and surefootedness are essential. A safety harness is recommended. The hike starts in Meiringen at the bottom station of the Bergbahnen Meiringen-Hasliberg cable car.

From there, follow the hiking trail in the direction of Schrändli-Reuti for approx. 10 to 15 minutes until you reach the entrance to the gorge (marked). The gorge can only be accessed from the bottom up. The walk takes about 30 minutes. The exit of the gorge is at Haselholz, from there the route leads back to Meiringen or Reuti via the normal hiking trail, approx. 30 minutes. The gorge should not be walked in winter and in wet weather.
