Do you have any questions about the visitor’s card or the digital registration system?
You will receive your guest card directly from your accommodation.
The digital guest card contains a QR code. Please show this at the start of each visit.
Yes. Every person over the age of six needs their own guest card.
If you are a second-home owner, you can resend the email to yourself via your MASCH account. If you are a guest, please contact your accommodation provider.
With the digital visitor card, you’ll receive two QR codes: one for the visitor card and one for public transport. With the paper visitor card, the card itself serves as your ticket for public transport.
Yes. It is valid as a ticket on the routes included.
Yes. The day of arrival and the day of departure are included.
No. You must renew the annual visitor’s card yourself in MASCH every year, or collect the paper visitor’s card from the Tourist Information Centre.

Do you have any questions about Meiringen?
| Travelling by car: | You can drive to either the West or East entrance. Free parking is available at both entrances. As there is more space at the West entrance, we recommend that you park there. |
| Travelling by train: | Take the R71 train from Meiringen station, platform 13, to Aareschlucht West or Aareschlucht Ost. You can find the timetable at sbb.ch. |
| Getting there on foot: | It takes about 30 minutes to walk to the West entrance from Meiringen railway station. |
FIt takes about 45 minutes to walk the entire route from the West Entrance to the East Entrance, or vice versa.
Yes. The West Entrance is open from 3 April to 1 November 2026. At the start of the season, only the West Entrance is open; during this period, you can walk through around two-thirds of the gorge.
The East Entrance is open from 9 May to 1 November 2026. During this period, the Aare Gorge is accessible throughout.
Yes. Travel on public transport is included in the visitor’s card.
With the guest card, you’ll get a 20 per cent discount.

The R71 departs from platform 13 at Meiringen station. Get off at Aareschlucht West or Aareschlucht Ost. You can buy your ticket via the SBB mobile app.
The Reichenbach Falls are situated in the village of Willigen in the municipality of Schattenhalb.
| Travelling by car: | If you’re travelling by car, we recommend using the car parks at Alpbach. There are very few parking spaces at the valley station of the Reichenbach Falls cable car. |
| Travelling by train: | Take the train to Meiringen Alpbach station. |
| Travelling by bus: | Take the local bus to the ‘Willigen Klinik Reichenbach’ stop. |
| Getting there on foot: | It takes about 25 minutes to walk there from Meiringen railway station. |

Yes. With the guest card, you get a 33 per cent discount on a return journey for adults.
The Reichenbach Falls Funicular will operate daily from 2 May to 4 October 2026, from 9.00 am to 5.30 pm. The last ascent is at 5.15 pm.
The Reichenbach Falls form part of a power station system. In winter, the water is used to generate electricity.
Yes. There are signposted walking trails.
Walk or take the Reichenbach Falls cable car down to the valley station. From there, you can take bus number 174 or walk to Meiringen railway station.

In der Gemeinde Meiringen gibt es verschiedene öffentliche Parkplätze. Je nach Parkplatz beträgt die maximale Parkdauer ein bis sechs Stunden. Die Kosten liegen zwischen CHF 0.80 und CHF 1.50 pro Stunde.
You can park your motorhome in public car parks. The relevant parking charges and road signs apply.
You’re allowed to stay overnight at campsites and official parking areas.
You can buy tickets at brienz-rothorn-bahn.ch, at the Meiringen Tourist Centre or at the ticket office at the valley station. Advance booking is required.

| Getting there on foot: | You can also get to Gschwantenmad on foot or by bike. |
| Travelling by car: | By car, you’ll reach the Gschwantenmad car park (subject to a charge) via a narrow, winding mountain road. |
| Travelling by public transport: | Take the PostBus 164 from Meiringen towards Schwarzwaldalp and get off at the Gschwantenmad stop. |
You can reach Schwarzwaldalp by winter bus; booking is required. Alternatively, you can drive to the public, chargeable car park. Please ensure you have the correct winter equipment and be aware that snow chains may be compulsory.

The walk from Gschwantenmad via Schwarzwaldalp to Grosse Scheidegg takes around two hours and 45 minutes. The route is 8 km long and involves a 680 m ascent and a 24 m descent. From Grosse Scheidegg, you can continue your walk via Mühlebach to Grindelwald railway station. This will take a further two hours and 15 minutes. The route is 8 km long and involves a 17 m ascent and a 945 m descent.
Yes. You can drive along a narrow, winding mountain road to the Schwarzwaldalp car park. A day ticket costs CHF 8, and an afternoon ticket (from 12 noon) costs CHF 4.
Yes, provided you have the appropriate winter equipment. Depending on road conditions, snow chains may be required. A day ticket costs CHF 8, whilst an afternoon ticket (from 12 noon) costs CHF 4.
A tractor with special trailers runs for the tobogganing fun. No booking is required. You can buy your ticket directly at Schwarzwaldalp. Toboggans are available to hire on site.

| Travelling by public transport: | Take the train from Meiringen station to Brünig-Hasliberg, and from there continue by PostBus. |
| Travelling by cable car: | Take the cable car from the Alpbach valley station to Hasliberg Reuti. |
The Meiringen–Hasliberg Reuti cable car is included in the visitor’s card. The other gondola lifts on the Hasliberg are not included.
The trails usually open at the start of the summer season. Depending on snow conditions, they may open later. Discover all the themed trails.
The bobsleigh run usually opens at the start of the summer season. Depending on snow conditions, it may open later. You can buy bobsleighs at the ticket offices of the Meiringen-Hasliberg mountain railways, at the Hotel Reuti and at the Meiringen Tourist Centre. Check operating status.
You’ll find barbecue areas at Lake Bidmi near the Bidmi gondola station, along the Mägisalp–Bidmi and Käserstatt–Lischen “Zwergenwege” trails, as well as at Underem Gibel, Käserstatt Hinter der Egg, and the Ahoren playground in Hasliberg Hohfluh. Please check in advance for any fire bans in the region.
| Directions to the Reuti Valley Station: | The quickest way to get to Reuti is from Meiringen via the shuttle cable car departing from the Alpbach valley station. |
| Directions to the Twing Valley Station: | To get to Twing, take bus 158 from Brünig Pass or take the bus from Hasliberg Reuti. |
There is a large parking garage beneath Twing. Additional parking is available at the Twing and Reuti stations. Learn more.
No. The public indoor swimming pool is located in Meiringen.

Yes. The Magic Pass includes all gondola rides at Hasliberg.
During the summer, public transportation is not included in the Magic Pass. For the 2026/27 winter season, five free one-day rides on public transportation are available.
Do you have any questions about Innertkirchen and the surrounding area?

Yes. Take the Meiringen–Grimsel–Oberwald bus route and get off at the Handegg Gelmerbahn stop.
You'll find parking spaces near the Handeck drawbridge.
With the guest card, the PostBus ride from Meiringen to Handegg is free. There is no discount on the Gelmerbahn.

| Return trip: | For the return trip, you can also take the bus or drive. |
Yes. You can purchase daily fishing permits with cash at the reception desk of the Hotel Engstlenalp, through the Fisheries Inspectorate’s online store, or at the Grimseltor Tourist Center in Innertkirchen.
No. Lake Engstlen is located in a nature reserve. Camping and bivouacking are not permitted.
That depends on your experience and fitness level. For the Horizontweg, you’ll need to be sure-footed and wear sturdy shoes. The hike is about 10 km long and includes 219 m of ascent and 614 m of descent. The walking time is about three hours and 30 minutes.
You can purchase tickets from the PostBus driver with cash or TWINT, at staffed public transportation ticket counters, at the PostBus ticket office in Bern, and at the train ticket counters in Meiringen, Andermatt, Realp, and Oberwald. Seat reservations must be made by 3:00 p.m. the evening before.
