At the Hotel Grimsel Hospiz, modernity meets the past. The first documented inn in Switzerland was located here as early as 1142.

In 1932, it caused a sensation as the first electrically heated hotel in Europe. This environmental concept was also an obligation during the comprehensive renovation of the hotel from 2008 to 2010 - the entire house is deliberately heated with waste heat from electricity production in an environmentally friendly manner. For as a historic four-star alpine hotel, the house towers majestically above the Grimsel reservoir in the heart of the KWO region, so to speak. The imposing technical facilities also delight visitors to the Grimsel World. On guided tours, the power plants, the tunnels and the famous Kristallkluft can be experienced.

The hotel is worth a detour for its cuisine and regional specialties alone. In the deep rock cellar at almost 2000 meters above sea level, 300 different wines await. All this makes the Grimsel Hospiz also a popular destination for festive parties or for working seminar rounds.

In winter - deep in snow - the historic house is enthroned in the midst of an untouched natural landscape. A winter oasis of peace of a special kind.

The hospice will be closed for the public in the 2024/25 winter season

During the winter months, important and extensive work will be done on the Grimsel at the large construction site for the Spitallamm dam replacement, right next to the hospice. The hotel rooms in the hospice and the restaurant will be needed for employees of KWO and other companies. Due to the construction work, there will also be more activity and noise than usual in winter. For these reasons, the hotel will unfortunately not be available to our guests in winter 2024/25. Thank you for your understanding.

We will be happy to be there for you in winter 2023/24 and summer 2024. And after the construction work again from summer 2025.
