Grimsel Hospice

Historic alpine hotel

Modernity meets the past at the Grimsel Hospiz. The first documented inn in Switzerland stood here as early as 1142. In 1932, it caused a sensation as the first electrically heated hotel in Europe. This environmental concept was also a key factor in the comprehensive renovation of the hotel from 2008 to 2010 - the entire building is heated with waste heat from electricity production in a conscious and environmentally friendly way. As a historic four-star alpine hotel, the hotel sits majestically above the Grimsel reservoir in the heart of the KWO region.

The hotel is worth a diversion for its cuisine and regional specialities alone. In the deep rock cellar at almost 2000 metres above sea level, 300 different wines await.

The Grimsel Hospiz welcomes you in the historic restaurant or - in fine weather - on the terrace. Two halls are available for larger groups. One of these is the listed Arvensaal.

In winter - deep in the snow - the historic building sits enthroned in the midst of an impressive natural landscape. A special kind of winter oasis of peace.
