Unique in Europe
With it's ten glacial waterfalls inside the mountain, illuminated and made accessible by tunnel-lift, the Trümmelbach Falls are unique in Europe.
The Trümmelbach drains the mighty glacier defiles of Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau and carries 20,200 tons of boulder detritus per year. Its drainage area is 24 km², half of it covered by snow and glaciers. These are the only glacier-waterfalls in Europe inside the mountain and are still accessible!
The Trümmelbach Falls are part of the Lauterbrunnen Valley's 72 waterfalls, among them also the imposing Staubbach Falls. The hiking tour on mainly flat land leads from Lauterbrunnen to Stechelberg, past water gushing from vertical rock faces that are several hundred meters high.
UNESCO World Heritage
The Trümmelbach is listed under the «Federal Inventory of landscapes and landmarks of national importance». Part of the UNESCO world natural heritage and rated 3* in the Michelin Guide.
