How do you get to the Jungfrau Region?

The Jungfrau Region lies in the heart of the Bernese Oberland, between Lakes Brienz and Thun and the triumvirate of the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau.
Grindelwald, Wengen, Mürren, Lauterbrunnen and Haslital are the main holiday resorts in the middle of this enchanting mountain world.

Arriving by plane

Zurich Airport
Intercity train connections to Bern: In Bern, change to an Intercity train in the direction of Interlaken Ost.
Travel time: approx. two hours
Basel Airport
Direct intercity trains from Basel to Interlaken Ost.
Travel time: about two hours.
Geneva Airport
Intercity connections to Bern: In Bern, change to an Intercity train in the direction of Interlaken Ost.
Travel time: approx. three hours.

Arriving by public transportation

Thanks to its central location in Europe, Switzerland is served by international trains from over twelve countries. Within Switzerland, intercity trains take you directly from Basel to the Jungfrau Region. From Zurich and Geneva you have to change trains in Bern.
The trains run every half hour. You also have daily connections to Interlaken from the ICE Frankfurt-Braunschweig-Berlin and EC Karlsruhe-Mainz-Cologne-Düsseldorf-Amsterdam.

The Regional Pass is available for 3, 4, 6, 8 or 10 days. It is valid on almost all public transport in the Bernese Oberland and offers reduced fares for excursions to the Valais, Central Switzerland and even as far as Lake Geneva. The Bernese Oberland Regional Pass is available in the Tourist Centres and at railway ticket offices. 

For free travel throughout Switzerland, we recommend the Swiss Travel Pass.
The Junior Card is specially made for families. It is available at railway counters, post offices and tourist offices.

Arriving by car

In both summer and winter the region can be reached by car from Basel/Zurich/Geneva via Bern or Lucerne/Brünig Pass. From the south, you reach the Jungfrau Region via Grimsel- or Sustenpass (only in Summer) or via Simplonpass and afterwards Lötschberg Car Transport.

Busroutes in the Haslital
The Hasliberg Route leads through idyllic woods and delightful landscapes. Discover some of Switzerland’s best sights, such as the Ballenberg open-air museum, and revel in pure enjoyment and year-round sportive action in Meiringen-Hasliberg. 

Points of departure: Brienz station, Brünig-Hasliberg station or Hasliberg Reuti.

How do I get to the resorts?

The way to most resorts is via Interlaken.
From there on you simply head for the high mountains.

How to get to Grindelwald

By public transport
From Interlaken Ost station you can reach Grindelwald directly without changing trains with the Bernese Oberland Railway (BOB).The blue-yellow train has to be entered on the rear part of the platforms in Interlaken, as the train divides into Zweilütschinen.The journey takes 33 minutes.

By car
From Interlaken follow the main road in the direction of Zweilütschinen. There you turn left towards Grindelwald. The whole trip takes about 30 minutes and is partly winding.
Parking
There are two public parking garages: Parkhaus Eiger+ (252 parking spaces) and Parkhaus Sportzentrum (160 parking spaces). Alternatively you can use the car park at Grindelwald Grund.

How to get to Wengen

By public transport
From Interlaken Ost station you can reach Wengen within 44 minutes.Take the blue and yellow train of the Bernese Oberland Bahn (BOB) to Lauterbrunnen. Get on the front part of the train, as the other part turns off in Zweilütschinen into another valley.In Lauterbrunnen you change to the yellow-green train of the Wengernalp Bahn (WAB). This will take you directly to Wengen.

By car
Wengen is car-free. If you arrive by car, you have to leave it in Lauterbrunnen and take the train from there.
The journey from Interlaken to Lauterbrunnen takes about 20 minutes.
Parking
There is a multi-storey car park directly below Lauterbrunnen station.
Alternatively, you can use the parking lot by the church of Lauterbrunnen. To get from there to the station, a bus leaves every half hour. The walk takes about 10 minutes.

How to get to Mürren

By public transport
From Interlaken Ost station you can reach Mürren within an hour.
Take the blue and yellow train of the Bernese Oberland Bahn (BOB) to Lauterbrunnen. Get on the front part of the train, as the other part turns off in Zweilütschinen into another valley.
Via Grütschalp (gondola & train)
From Lauterbrunnen station, cross the road and take the gondola to Grütschalp.
There you change to a small train which takes you to Mürren.
The journey from Lautebrunnen to Mürren takes 23 minutes.
Via Stechelberg (bus & gondola)
In Lauterbrunnen take the bus in the direction of Stechelberg and get off at the Schilthorn cable car station.
From there the gondola will take you in 10 minutes via Gimmelwald to Mürren.
The journey from Lauterbrunnen to Mürren takes 32 minutes.

By car
Mürren is car-free. If you arrive by car, you must leave it in Lauterbrunnen or Stechelberg and use public transport from there.
The drive from Interlaken to Lauterbrunnen takes about 20 minutes, to Stechelberg it is 25 minutes.
Parking
In Stechelberg there is a car park directly at the bottom station of the Schilthorn cable car.
There is a multi-storey car park below Lauterbrunnen station.
Alternatively, you can use the car park by the Lauterbrunnen church. To get from there to the station, a bus leaves every half hour. The walk takes about 10 minutes.

How to get to Lauterbrunnen

By public transport
The journey from Interlaken Ost to Lauterbrunnen takes 20 minutes.
The blue and yellow train of the Bernese Oberland Bahn (BOB) will take you to Lauterbrunnen. Get on the front part of the train, as the other part turns off in Zweilütschinen into another valley.

By car
The drive from Interlaken to Lauterbrunnen takes about 20 minutes.
Parking
There is a multi-storey car park directly below Lauterbrunnen station.
Alternatively, you can use the parking lot by the church of Lauterbrunnen.

How to get to Haslital

By public transport
You travel from Interlaken or Lucerne with the panoramic-trains of the Zentralbahn and from the Brünig-pass by post-bus.

By car
In both summer and winter the region can be reached by car from Basel/Zurich/Geneva via Bern or Lucerne/Brünig Pass. From the south, you reach the Haslital via Grimsel- or Sustenpass (only in Summer) or via Simplonpass and afterwards Lötschberg Car Transport.
